Visit the Lazzaretto Vecchio

Contenuto

The Lazzaretto Vecchio was opened to the public from 2014 to 2019thanks to the efforts of the volunteers of the Archeoclub di Venezia and the Ekos Club, based on the guidelines of an agreement signed in September 2013 by the local representatives of the Ministry of Culture (formerly the Soprintendenza Archeologica del Veneto, then the Polo Museale del Veneto, today the Direzione Regionale Musei Veneto).

Almost 17 thousand people were thus able to visit the Lazzaretto Vecchio, in about thirty special openings on Sundays or guided tours organized for universities and associations. This great enthusiasm on the part of the citizenry, together with much media coverage, resulted in the Ministry’s reviving the project of the National Archeological Museum of the Venice Laguna in 2020, which was originally begun in 2000.

Currently, important restructuring work is under way for a new phase of restoration. Guided tours have therefore been suspended for the time being for safety reasons and will be resumed as soon as possible.
